Part of what I’m doing now is working on my own patterns, changing my habits. I’ve been at these particular issues a few months but recently decided to document some of my stuff since I’m developing an interest in why people do the things they do and how to change it and I figure I’m a great lab rat for myself. My design business is running smoothly enough that I can distance myself from the everyday workings of it and only have to jump in and make concerted efforts every few days. I’m thankful for that, it gives me this time to experiment with pesky little details like, you know, who I am, and what it is I want to get up and do every day. I know that the way we choose to fill our time is pretty telling and I’m trying to be more deliberate about it.
Anyway, as an introduction, a few of the things I am working on (ew, don’t like that word working, let’s say “experimenting”…”tweaking” ahhh, much better!) A few of the things I am tweaking about my life right now include: waking before 9am, meditation practice, Shiva Nata practice, writing on a regular basis, yoga, and breaking some destructive eating and drinking habits. There’s some career stuff too, but that’s a little more amorphous and not as easy to put into words right now.
Yeah, it sounds like a lot all at once but the thing is I’m not exactly starting from zero, nor am I focused on perfection at this point. It’s mainly about: which of these work for me, and in what way? A gentle letting these things into my life in a conscious manner. I’ll write a little more detail about what each one means to me in future posts.
