Okay no, it’s not a real detective agency (what gave me away?)… Just a detective agency of the soul.

All right, what does that mean?

I believe that we all have this deep, guiding force that pulls us toward our right path in life.  It comes from an essential place and likes to make itself known in surprising and frustrating ways. You might call it Psyche, Self, God. I call it Soul. Or, in my less zen moments, that bitch in my head. (You can see I have issues with this concept.)

Whatever you call it, it has taken me a while to come to terms with its existence. It really drives me bonkers to realize that there are some things I cannot control, that I can’t conquer with logic, that I can’t plan out step-by-step. I want to track down the suspect and shine an interrogation light in its face. I want answers dammit.

But I think there is a gentler approach. Maybe we can search for clues here and there. In our dreams, in our waking fantasies, in the things we do seemingly without reason. In apparent coincidence.

I’m Eileen. Devotee of Jung and Springsteen. Recovering designer. Lover of detective novels. Recently re-transplanted to the Pacific Northwest.
